Florida Dialectical Behavioral Therapist
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is characterized by its focus on dialectics, which means finding a balance between opposing concepts. The therapy combines acceptance and change strategies, emphasizing the need for clients to accept themselves and their emotions while simultaneously working toward positive change.
Key components of DBT include: emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness. DBT is often used to treat conditions such as borderline personality disorder, anxiety, depression, mood swings, impulsivity and many other mental health challenges.
Skills are taught in our one-on-one sessions and practiced or used between sessions. Karen has experience providing DBT skills for a variety of mental health concerns.
